Our mission is to create wines that speak of their unique terroir, showcasing premium varietal expression. We invite you to join us on this expedition of discovery and experimentation.
Mark Kirkby, Vigneron

Mark hails from Moree, a rural town in Northern NSW. The Kirkby’s are well known in Moree as one of the original farming families, primarily cotton. Originally trained as an engineer, he worked on high-pressure gas systems designed for the Australian Navy. After about 15 years sitting behind a desk, he got a bit antsy and decided he wanted to get back onto the land and get his hands dirty again. The property was purchased in 1998 as a friend mentioned he noticed a pristine plot of land on a basalt cap during one of his routine flyovers. Mark did some digging, made some deals and the first vines were planted in 2000.
Mark splits his time between his family and home in Sydney and the vineyard, roughly 8 hours north.
Jan Taborsky, Wine Manager

Jan joined Mark at the beginning of 2017, shortly after moving to Australia from Europe. In his wine travels he overheard a story about an eccentric wine grower based in Sydney. This vigneron grew 10 hectares of rare varieties, uncommon in Australia, somewhere high in the Tablelands. Of course, they had to meet. Over a few bottles of wine they bonded over their appreciation of terroir expression and experimentation, and Jan has been there ever since.
Back in Europe Jan worked in the wine import industry. He is currently studying at the Institute of Masters of Wine and has a WSET Diploma.
‘In wine, I want to know everything… about everything’
Glen Robert & Andrew Scott, Winemakers

Jan stumbled over these talented winemakers on one of his trips up to the Granite Belt. It started as a pleasant visit and grew into a successful collaboration that is still going strong. Glen and Andrew are talented winemakers passionate about excellence through experimentation.
Jared Dixon, Winemaker

How many years have we known Jared? Who knows, it’s a mystery to him and us. Jared collaborated with us on the original, popular Pink Submarine and is back for our new release Submarines and Hill of Dreams blends. His vision of winemaking aligns with our belief of minimal intervention within the vineyard and the winery.
